Designed by Seaton & Neville and built in Hong Kong at the renowned Cheoy Lee Shipyards (they've been shipbuilders more than a century and launched over 5,000 vessels), the 53 motor sailor is one of the few true pilothouse motor sailors in this size range and an excellent example of what a motor sailor SHOULD be: with a modified full keel and versatile cutter rig she sails well and, with furling, jib, staysail and main, can be handled by a couple or even single handed, and with twin diesel engine also motors well (AND with a flybridge and fully enclosed pilothouse in almost all conditions!).
This particular professionally maintained example is fully equipped and ready to go around the world--and with 800 gallons of fuel you'll get pretty far (figure about 2,500 miles) before you ever need to raise the sails! But with such a roomy, comfortable three stateroom interior beautifully fitted out in teak, and all the oversized windows and hatches, you might just decide to use her as a weekend retreat here in the Bay area...
Note spacious and ever-so-practical pilot house with excellent visibility, raised outside steering station (fully enclosed in isinglass (2022) which can be rolled up or removed), bulletproof twin naturally aspirated Ford Lehman diesels that have been very well maintained with new prop shafts and seals (2020), three stateroom and two heads, Webasto hydronic heat and Marine Air reverse cycle heat/air systems, low time on Westerbeke 8kW genset (installed 2019), all the batteries (and there are a LOT of 'em!) replaced in 2023; current owner has done an outstanding job maintaining and upgrading the boat.
SO: Seascape is well fit out and in excellent cosmetic condition both above and below, but the real story might be location, location, location: she's lying in a potentially transferable downtown slip right on the turning basin in the Sausalito Yacht Harbor; there's a long waiting list to get a slip of ANY size here and it can take YEARS to get one of the bigger ones so this is a material benefit if you're able to take advantage...
Board port side aft quarter then thru a gate in the raised bulwark into the bi level enclosed aft deck/upper steering area with teak decks and built in seating. Down three steps forward into a true pilothouse with comfortable bench seating and great visibility forward and both sides with oversized raised windows.
Down three more steps forward to galley/salon area with a U shaped galley on the port side and beamy salon also with oversize windows and overhead hatch. From salon either continue forward down two more steps to second stateroom far forward with over/under twin bunks, just aft port side is full head with separate stall shower, third stateroom across starboard with single berth, or aft down two steps to companionway with door to laundry room/work area/engine room access inboard then far aft to what is practically a beam-to-beam master stateroom with raised queen berth, ample storage and a full ensuite head with stall shower.
Note the main salon is spacious and elegant, with Webasto hydronic heating, an L-shaped settee and table to starboard, and two super-comfy swiveling recliners to port; the U shaped galley was designed for cooking underway and is well laid out and very functional; and the master stateroom is just ENORMOUS. Also note the flawless teak joinery throughout, and the solid teak parquet sole in the salon, 6'3 headroom in most of the below deck areas.
