When the Valiant 40 was introduced in1975 it was considered to be the ultimate ocean cruising boat because it was not a slug---- and today since 70's the design concept has been copied by many successful boat builders. BUT they cost many times more than what you have to pay for a good Valiant.
You have probably read about blister problems with early boats but the 1992 boats were built in The Texas plant and are known for not having blisters
Note: Moderation has a Pullman berth forward and the head aft like the newer 42's
