What an outstanding world cruising "Little Ship!"

LIONESSE is essentially "one of a kind" and a rare, special offering in today's long-range cruiser market.

With 144,400 lbs displacement, she is built to take anything the oceanic elements may throw her way!

Built by her original owner as a no expense spared custom cruising yacht, everything was well thought out and all possible contingencies were planned for. She has recently received significant up-dating and new equipment (please see the separate list: " up-dates and new equipment" in this section of the listing. LIONESSE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND HAS JUST BEEN FULLY DETAILED! Elegant and comfortable, seaworthy and strong, LIONESSE is ready to take you anywhere you want to go!

LIONESSE is a 2001 Cheoy Lee Expedition 70 built at the Doumen shipyard on the Pearl River in China. She is a serious cruising platform, designed for long-range autonomy for extended periods away from shore side support, and for full-time living-aboard use. She is a safe, economical, and proven long-range cruiser, having navigated from Alaska to the Chesapeake via the Panama Canal.

LIONESSE is a SIGNIFICANT EVOLUTION OF and a huge up-grade from the 66 Cheoy lee which became a CLASSIC, she is functionally much larger with a lot more living space inside, a better layout and a re-design of the Canoe stern, offering a large swim platform and molded fiberglass stairway to the aft deck for safe comfortable boarding. She is also much newer than the old 66's that were built in the 1970's and early '80's. If you are looking for a SERIOUS SELF-SUFFICIENT WORLD CRUISER< PLEASE LOOK AT LIONESSE VERY CLOSELY!

The lower deck has three staterooms each with an en-suite head, sleeping six in two queen beds and two twins. The walk-in engine room and a separate workshop/pantry space are amidships.

The main deck consists of a large galley forward, a dining room and main salon, with an aft fantail deck with staircase leading to the large swim platform.

The upper deck has a large, enclosed pilothouse, a sky-lounge with day head, and a large open aft deck with Dynasty stainless gas grill and seating for a large group.

The interior of LIONESSE has been finished to a very fine quality, with high-gloss wood accents, wall-to- wall carpeting, cream-colored vinyl bulkheads and overheads, and granite and marble countertops.

The galley is located forward of the saloon and dining area on the port side. Large, fixed windows face the foredeck. Bamboo floors, granite counter tops and high-end stainless-steel appliances make this galley a wonderful environment for creating simple snacks or gourmet meals.

The pilothouse features a Portuguese bridge and is equipped with a full complement of modem electronics and navigation aids.

LIONESSE has a conservative cruising range at 1600 nautical miles, running at 1750 rpm = 9.0 knots. She carries 2,400 gallons of fuel and only burns 13 gallons per hour (this figure includes running a Northern Lights 20kW generator). The twin Caterpillar 3306 diesel engines are rated at 290 hp each, and have Walker Air Seps, bypass oil filters, and ZF marine gears. Grouped Racor filters provide ample fuel filtering capacity with easy changeover while underway.

The stabilizers are 9 square foot fins by Naiad. Maneuvering in close quarters is made easier by the 12hp American Bow Thruster. There are twin Maxwell 3500 anchor windlasses on the foredeck, and twin Maxwell 2200 warping windlasses on the fantail. The 13.5-foot Zodiac rigid bottom inflatable tender with a new Yamaha 40HP four-cycle outboard is launched and retrieved with a Nautical Structures 1500-lb davit on the foredeck. A Sea Tel stabilized TV antenna feeds a Sony 32-inch flat screen TV and a 32-inch Panasonic TV.

Electrical system is run by two 20kw Northern lights generators (5300 hours), 8kw inverters by Trace backed by 16 ID marine batteries, fed by two 50- Amp 240-volt shore power cords. Sentry battery chargers.

The freshwater tankage holds 600 gallons. The watermaker is built by Sea Recovery and produces 33 gallons per hour. There are several Everpure water filters in the freshwater system.

The air conditioning system is a chilled water system by Aqua-air, with a 10-ton capacity. There are 5 Vacu-Flush heads which feed into a 140-gallon holding tank.
