La Bateau is a freshwater only Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 44i that was originally launched in 2010, and has been sailed only on the Great Lakes since new. You will find 'La Bateau' combines sailing performance with indulgent comfort. This boat is the three cabin/two head version, which includes three generous cabins. The cockpit is expansive with a large cockpit table perfect for relaxing at anchor. The twin steering wheels provide the perfect vantage point for helm control and give easy access to the sugar-scooped stern, walkthrough transom, and swim ladder.
This modern, 44-foot sailboat is designed to go further and faster, and to be easily sailed short-handed. The Sun Odyssey 44i affords extraordinary comfort, whether at sea or at anchor.
Engine: La Bateau is equipped with a powerful 75HP Yanmar Diesel engine, which easily moves her along at over 7 knots while running at 2200 RPM.
The 75 HP engine was an upgrade option over the 54 HP model, which was the standard option for the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 44i.
Accommodations This model Jeanneau 44i is the three cabin, owner-forward version. Equipped with three large staterooms and two heads, there is ample space for a family or guests. The spacious forward stateroom boasts a large, boat-queen-size berth. All berths are equipped with premium mattresses. The salon table converts to an additional double berth. La Bateau can comfortably accommodate up to 8 adults overnight.
La Bateau has 2 heads, each equipped with a shower and electric flush toilet. The forward head includes a fold-out partition that creates a nice, enclosed shower space.
All interior lights have been upgraded to highly efficiency LEDs, which provide lots of light without draining the house battery bank or becoming hot to the touch.
Galley La Bateau is equipped with a full galley, including a 3-burner stainless steel stove with thermostatically controlled oven and stainless steel protection bar, double basin sink with pressurized hot and cold water, microwave, 12v refrigerator with stainless steel door for side access, and separate 12v freezer. The refrigeration system’s compressor and keel cooled heat exchanger were replaced in 2021.
Sails and Rigging: La Bateau is equipped with an in-mast furling mainsail and a furling genoa, which makes safely deploying, reefing, or dousing the sails from the cockpit a breeze. This setup allows the skipper and crew to easily reconfigure La Bateau’s sail area to meet their needs for safety, comfort, and sailing performance through a wide range of wind conditions. The electric winch works great for managing the mainsheet or furling the genoa in stronger winds, or for raising the sails during spring commissioning.

Water Heater: La Bateau’s water heater works while connected to shore power and while the engine is running. Typically, there is enough hot water in the tank after setting anchor to facilitate quick showers for several people. Being able to have a quick, hot shower at anchor after playing on the beach, hiking a trail, or sailing all day is just one of the many luxuries La Bateau provides for her crew and guests. La Bateau is also equipped with a cockpit shower with hot and cold water.
Dinghy: La Bateau is equipped with a 10 ft. Highfield 310 Rigid Inflatable dinghy (new in 2021) with a 6HP Tohatsu 4-stroke outboard motor and oars. The dinghy is designed to carry 5 adults safely.
