Fountaine Pajot Mahe 36 Evolution: Performance, Comfort, Adventure!
This catamaran has been Rhode Island-based since new, making its maiden voyage on her own hull from France to Massachusetts immediately after commissioning. With only two owners, the first kept her lightly used in and around Narragansett Bay, RI. The current owner has sailed her extensively, using her for snowbird journeys between summers in Rhode Island and winters in the Bahamas and Virgin Islands. Ideal for cruising the ICW and Bahamas, she features a shallow 3.5-foot draft, a 58-foot air draft, and widely spaced engines that provide excellent handling under power. Her bluewater capabilities have been thoroughly proven, and with minimal preparation, she could confidently tackle ocean crossings. The current owner, a professional sailor and instructor, is available to offer training or delivery services for the new owner.
Renowned designer team Joubert/Nivelt brought their expertise to the Mahe 36, crafting sleek hulls that excel in performance while maintaining catamaran stability. The narrow waterline beams enhance speed and upwind ability, while the hulls flare out above the waterline to provide comfortable living space and added buoyancy. This blend of performance and comfort ensures the Mahe 36 can handle both spirited coastal cruising and challenging offshore conditions. The boat's resin-infused fiberglass construction, complete with watertight bulkheads fore and aft, offers durability and peace of mind for long-term adventures. Paired with twin 30-horsepower Volvo diesels positioned aft for quiet operation, the boat moves effortlessly under power and sails impressively, reaching over 9 knots on a close reach in moderate conditions.
Below deck, this Mahe 36 Evolution is configured in the desirable three-cabin, one-head layout, perfect for families or small groups. The starboard hull is dedicated to the owner's suite, featuring a spacious queen berth and abundant storage. The port hull houses two cabins, a queen and a double, ideal for guests or crew. The bright and airy salon connects seamlessly to the cockpit through large sliding doors, creating an inviting social space with panoramic views. The hard-top and full enclosure provide a comfortable environment in both sunny and inclement weather. A well-equipped galley makes meal preparation a pleasure, while the head, located forward in the starboard hull, includes a modern design and a separate shower for added convenience. From its efficient layout to its comfortable amenities, this catamaran is perfectly suited for extended cruising.
