“Maren” is a 1980 Kong-Halvorsen Island Gypsy Trawler Long Range Aft Flush Deck Trawler/Motoryacht designed for serious boating, coastal cruising or live aboard use. Island Gypsy hulls are designed with rough seas, long range cruising and crew comfort in mind. “Maren’s” cruising speed 8 knots at 1650 rpm.

Since commissioning, Maren’s three owners invested in significant upgrades and new equipment. Significant modifications in the last 3 years include new and refurbished windows, new aluminum fuel tanks, LED engine room lighting, fully enclosed canvas flybridge with rollup windows, new AGM batteries and new salon wood flooring.

The windows were rebuilt/replaced by Mark Craven at Craven Boat Building LLC. The windows were leak tested and all bare wood epoxied sealed and painted. Also installed copper tubing drains in all sliding window frames, both new frames and old ones so the frames don't rot at the drains.

The 44' Island Gypsy's are known for their attractive lines and being heavily built on a very efficient hull design. She's an excellent sea boat with a flared bow that provides a comfortable and dry ride.

She features a very spacious salon and galley area with abundant storage and lower a helm. The full beam master stateroom is aft and features a full walk-around island berth, abundant storage and an private in suite master head. The guest stateroom is forward as well as the guest head & shower.

Her Volvo Diesel engines have very low hours since her reported rebuilds in 2004 and a new 17kw Generator was installed in 2000.

Entry into the salon is via the starboard door at the lower steering station or a door off of the aft sundeck. The salon/galley area features a large salon and a U-shaped full service galley is aft to port. The full galley offers a huge amount of storage and all the amenities for meal preparation. Lining the starboard side of the salon from the aft companionway to starboard sliding door is a very ornate teak set of drawers and cabinetry. The yacht finished teak helm station offers a commanding view out and forward as well to port and starboard. Portside is the L-shaped settee and table. Down and forward to port is a laundry locker that abounds with stowage for gear, clothes, linens, etc. Across, to starboard, is the large guest head with an electric toilet, basin and separate shower stall with a teak seat and grate incorporated. Also, forward are the wide and comfortable v-berths with hanging lockers to port and starboard . Contributing to the classic feel of the Island Gypsy styling is the teak planked ceiling outboard the v-berths. Aft of the salon and down the aft companionway, is the full beamed, fully accommodating master stateroom with a full queen-sized berth, matching night stands and port/starboard hanging lockers, stowage and drawers. Uniquely incorporated into the companionway to the master stateroom is a handy pocket broom closet and a door leading to the engine room under the stairway. In the forward area of the stateroom to starboard is a desk/vanity with a drawer and mirror. The master head is forward to port and generously sized with electric toilet and a separate shower stall. In the master stateroom and head, there are (8) opening that provide ample light and air circulation when opened. There is also an escape hatch that opens to the sundeck.
