The name "VIA" captures the essence of adventure aboard this 2004 Caliber 40LRC (Long Range Cruiser). This meticulously crafted, liveaboard-ready monohull is poised to turn your cruising dreams into reality, offering the perfect blend of comfort, durability, and performance for extended voyages. Catch up on the last four years of her journey to where she is now at the owners YouTube channel Making Our Way.
The Caliber 40LRC’s 212-gallon fuel capacity and 178-gallon water capacity far exceed those of similar vessels, offering extended range and independence from the dock or foreign ports. Two fuel tanks and a builtin dual Racor polishing system and Spectra water-maker provide redundancy, ensuring reliability in remote waters. Whether navigating stormy seas or tranquil passages, the Caliber 40LRC combines thoughtful design, rugged construction, and luxurious amenities to deliver a safe, capable, and comfortable cruising experience.
The cockpit is designed for safety and efficiency, especially for shorthanded sailing. All sail control lines lead aft to self-tailing winches, and a single-line auto-reefing system simplifies mainsail adjustments from the cockpit. The T-shaped cockpit accommodates a large-diameter wheel for clear sail visibility, while its spacious layout ensures comfort and security for all aboard.
A boarding platform with a deployable ladder, and a handheld (cold) shower enhance functionality. Partial solid stainless life-rail (bow & stern). At the bow, a teak and stainless steel anchor roller platform simplifies anchoring and protects the hull’s gelcoat. Additional stern anchor with ~200' of rode and installed fairlead that runs to starboard winch.
