From Nautor Swan and German Frers, the Nautor Swan 80 is an iconic yacht. This example is special. ZADIG had during 2023 and again in 2025 very substantial works, upgrades and renewals. These included, new engine, new gen set, complete new Victron 4 electrical system, new air conditioning, renewal of the hydraulic system, rig service, new upholstery, new batteries, new B&G, new tender, and much more. She is ready for the next years of trouble-free sailing.
RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A - “Ocean”.
Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:
- Swan 82 mould with increased freeboard/headroom and larger at the stern.
- The hull is single skin construction using glass/aramid hybrid fibre reinforced vinylester laminate with carbon fibre reinforcements. A high proportion of the fibres are unidirectional, giving a stiff laminate with excellent strength and fatigue properties.
- Stiffener flanges are unidirectional carbon lay-ups over foam cores.
- Engine beds are of GRP with steel inserts.
- Structural bulkheads are Nomex honeycomb cored carbon fibre epoxy prepreg construction and laminated to hull and deck.
- Carbon fibre chain plates for the main shrouds are bonded to the hull and reinforce the structure to the bulkhead.
- Six hull windows, flush with frame and hull on outside.
- Hull and deck in white gelcoat with blue stripes.
- Double blue stripes on house coaming.
- The deck is a carbon fibre pre-preg sandwich construction with a Nomex honeycomb core, bonded/glued to the hull.
- Laid teak on side deck, cockpit soles and seats new deck installed 2012, refitted 2023.
- 30mm teak toe rail.
- Long cockpit seats either side of centreline table.
- Bridge deck connects centre cockpit and sailing cockpit.
Keel & Rudder:
- Modified bulb keel, 700kg heavier than earlier 80’s (it then became standard from 80-006).
- Ballast: 15,700kg / 34,612lb.
- Carbon fibre spade rudder with two self-aligning roller bearings.
- JP3 rudder bearings, upper and lower - new 2024. Rudder checked whilst out.
